On May 11, the pouring of the first floor plate of the Guangzhou Haizhu Bay Tunnel project, constructed by China Railway 14th Bureau Group, was completed.
The completion of the pouring of the first slab marks a phased breakthrough in the construction of the deep foundation pit of the project.
Haizhu Bay Tunnel is a provincial and municipal double key project. The total length of the tunnel is 4.35 kilometers. The shield section is 2,077 meters long, and the excavation diameter is 15.07 meters, while the outer diameter of the segment is 14.5 meters. It is expected to be completed and opened to traffic by the end of 2024.
The pouring of the first slab was 1.5 meters thick, 54.5 meters wide, and 21 meters long. The one-time pouring volume was 1,718 square meters, while the total pouring area was 1144.5 sq m.
In order to ensure the smooth pouring of the first slab, China Railway 14th Bureau Group implemented strict safety standards and utilized cutting-edge technology to conduct real-time monitoring of the site through its smart safety risk management and control platform.
After the completion of the project, it will form an express channel between Guangzhou's city center and Guangzhou South Railway Station, cutting the travel time between them to 15 minutes. This is expected to provide easier access to Guangzhou South Railway Station, as well as further support Guangzhou's position as a comprehensive transportation hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
