In the first quarter of 2022, Haizhu's GDP was 62.81 billion yuan ($9.51 billion), a year-on-year increase of 4.1 percent.

The new-generation information technology service industry generated revenue of 8.76 billion yuan from January to February, an increase of 24.4 percent, while sales of wholesale and retail goods totaled 111.97 billion yuan, an increase of 18.9 percent, 9.4 percentage points higher than that of Guangzhou as a whole and ranking second among districts in the city.

In addition, the construction industry grew by 9.2 percent, and the revenue of the culture, sports and entertainment industry grew 17.6 percent to 335 million yuan from January to February.
