22 cases found plus latest GZ updates

According to a press conference held by the Guangzhou Municipal Government this afternoon, 22 new locally-acquired COVID-19 cases were reported from midnight yesterday (April 9th) through to 2 p.m. today, bringing the total number of locally-acquired cases to 23. 

Among those infected with the virus, 19 cases were reported in the city's Baiyun district. As for the remaining cases, two were in Yuexiu district, one was in the district of Haizhu, and one was in Tianhe district. Data shows that the clustered outbreak occurred mainly in the Baiyun district of Guangzhou. The possibility of further community transmission has not been ruled out. 

Also, at the press conference, it was confirmed that the city is building a makeshift hospital at the Pazhou International Convention and Exhibition Center in accordance with a national plan.

As of now, over 19.18 million tests have been conducted citywide. 

Today's press conference also announced that Guangzhou citizens are required not to leave the city unless it is absolutely necessary, effective April 11th. If one has to, they must present a negative nucleic acid test report issued within 48 hours. 

Classes will also turn online in primary and middle schools in Guangzhou starting tomorrow until April 17.
