The Guangzhou municipal health commission reported that there were four newly confirmed local COVID-19 cases (including one that was previously categorized as asymptomatic), two new domestic asymptomatic cases, two newly confirmed imported cases, and four new imported asymptomatic cases. A total of four new patients were discharged from hospitals, with the total COVID-19 hospitalizations being 29 on April 3, 2022.
As of 24:00 on April 3, 2022, there were a total of 4,986 positive COVID-19 cases, including 2,336 confirmed cases (1,790 imported cases and 546 domestic cases), as well as 2,650 asymptomatic cases (2,431 imported cases and 219 domestic cases).
Details of the four newly confirmed domestic cases and the two domestic asymptomatic cases are as follows:
Confirmed case No 1:
The patient is a 37-year-old Chinese man who lives on Shangnan Road, Dayuan Street, Baiyun district.
Confirmed case No 2:
The patient is a 42-year-old man of Chinese nationality who lives on Chashan East Street, Baiyun district.
Both patients are close contacts of the patient who was reported on April 2 and who returned to Guangzhou from outside Guangdong province. During their medical observation, they tested positive for COVID-19 and were sent to Guangzhou No 8 People's Hospital for treatment. Further examination confirmed that they have mild COVID-19 symptoms.
Confirmed case No 3:
The patient is a 29-year-old Chinese national. He is a close contact of a patient recently reported in another province. On April 2, upon his arrival in Guangzhou on flight CA4305 from outside Guangdong province, he was transported to a hotel for centralized quarantine. He tested positive for COVID-19 during the observation period and was transported to Guangzhou No. 8 People's Hospital for treatment. Further examination confirmed that he had mild COVID-19 symptoms.
Confirmed case No 4 (a patient who was previously categorized as asymptomatic):
The patient is a 44-year-old man of Chinese nationality. On March 29, he drove a truck from outside Guangdong province to Guangzhou. On the evening of March 30, he tested positive for COVID-19. The test results from the CDC also came back positive early the next morning. He was then transported to Guangzhou No 8 People's Hospital for treatment. He was diagnosed as an asymptomatic case on March 31 and then as a confirmed COVID-19 case with mild symptoms on April 3.
Asymptomatic case No 1:
The patient is a 34-year-old woman of Chinese nationality who lives on Chashan East Street, Baiyun district. She is a close contact of a confirmed case who came to Guangzhou on April 2 from outside Guangdong province. During her medical observation, she tested positive for COVID-19 and was transported to Guangzhou No 8 People's Hospital for treatment.
Asymptomatic case No 2:
The patient is a 49-year-old man of Chinese nationality who lives on Wangcheng Fucheng Road in Chengjiao neighborhood, Conghua district. He is a close contact of a confirmed case recently reported in another province. On March 28, he took the train from outside Guangdong province and arrived at Guangzhou Railway Station the next day. Upon arrival, he underwent the requisite health management measures. On April 3, he tested positive for COVID-19 and was transported to Guangzhou No 8 People's Hospital for treatment.

Taihe town: Jinyun East Gas Station, Futiangu Restaurant (store in ZK Wisdom Park), Baihui Supermarket on Shangnan Road, Xinchaowei Soup and Noodles Store on Shangnan Road, Qiaotou Vegetable Store on Chashan East Street, Laofuyang Restaurant, the lavatory next to Old Shanghai Wonton Store in the Lin'an Building, as well as the breakfast stall right in front of Changsheng Logistics Park.
Conghua district
Chengjiao neighborhood: COVID-19 testing point at Wansheng Square.
Relevant municipal and district departments have carried out universal epidemiological investigations and implemented COVID-19 measures on the relevant exposure sites and all possible contacts. Identified close contacts and secondary contacts have been placed under quarantine, while all possible exposure sites have been disinfected.
