Haizhu will hold the first Guangzhou Pazhou Algorithm Application International Competition, officials announced at a press conference on March 25.

The competition will be held by the Haizhu government and Pazhou Laboratory. It includes seven competition areas, covering the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Yangtze River Delta, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area, Northeast China, Central China, West China, and Overseas, covering the six categories of industry, commerce, urban construction, medical care, education, as well as public algorithms.

The competition will feature online and offline components and it will be divided into several stages, such as registration, preliminary competition, semi-finals, finals, awards ceremony, as well as algorithm industry frontier summit. It is planned to end in June. Multiple awards will be given out in the competition, while different selected lists will be released during it.

The preferred teams and projects selected by the competition will receive policy support from Haizhou, application scenario support, cooperation support with leading enterprises, financing support, and recruitment green channel support. Details on how to register for the competition will be released soon through the media, with excellent projects and teams from enterprises, universities, and research institutes in the field of algorithms encouraged to sign up.

"Pazhou Laboratory is the chairman unit of the Pazhou Algorithm Industry Alliance. Holding the competition is a good opportunity for the alliance," said Chen Junlong, deputy director of Pazhou Laboratory.

In 2021, Haizhu was included in one of the pilot projects of Guangzhou's chief data officer system. Haizhu has gathered more than 5.3 billion pieces of data, shared and exchanged 6 billion pieces of data, as well as built the first economic big data platform in Guangdong province and the first universal electronic household registers in Guangzhou, helping economic development, regional governance, medical and health care, as well as COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control work. The upcoming Pazhou Algorithm Silicon Valley Launch Conference will also release the first batch of 10 smart city application scenarios.
