Guangdong's first youth symphony orchestra, the Guangzhou Little Angel Symphony Orchestra, celebrated its 30th anniversary at Haizhu Children's Palace on March 5.
The Guangzhou Little Angel Symphony Orchestra was established on March 29, 1992. The average age of the orchestra members is less than 12 years old. It is known as "the cradle of musical dreams." After 30 years of unremitting efforts, the ensemble has grown from a small string band with only a dozen members to the largest youth orchestra in the province, with 12 orchestras and more than 800 musicians.
At the event, attendees, art experts, and former orchestra members from all over the world who are fans and supporters of the orchestra sent congratulatory videos to celebrate its 30th anniversary. Tang Yongbao, chairman of the Guangdong Musicians Association, said in the video, "Warm congratulations on the 30th anniversary of the Guangzhou Little Angels Symphony Orchestra. Now, you have become an important force among domestic youth symphony orchestras and are highly regarded in Guangzhou. I hope that you will continue to develop better and better!"
The Haizhu Children's Palace has curated a series of celebrations to mark the anniversary, including an art exhibition and a music performance month. The art exhibition features more than 200 pictures in 10 sections, with 10 former orchestra members who are now grown up detailing the 30-year history of the orchestra. The music performance month's concert series will feature shows held every Saturday throughout March.
