Stewards in custom-made trains for the Beijing Winter Olympics have been wearing specially designed uniforms made by EXCEPTION de MIXMIND in Haizhu.

The uniform's collar is designed to be shaped like a round fruit and was inspired by hanfu (traditional Chinese apparel). The collar's hanfu-like shape and raglan sleeves convey the traditional beauty aesthetics of the East.

The uniforms are designed with a blue-gray color scheme, with the dark-green trims forming a color contrast with the blue, echoing the main color of the Winter Olympics, paying tribute to classic railway uniforms, as well as enhancing the fashion of modern uniforms.

EXCEPTION de MIXMIND was established in 1996 and it bills itself as "the longest-existing and one of the most successful designer brands in China." It relocated to Haizhu in 1997.

"Our company chose Haizhu because of its Sun Yat-sen University textile business district. Many designers and clothing brands from all over the country purchase their textiles here," said the company's founder Mao Jihong. "It is still a good choice for fashion companies to settle in Haizhu. The Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in Haizhu is also beneficial for our company to cultivate talents."
