The fifth day of the Chinese New Year fell on Feb 5 this year, in which people traditionally welcome the God of Wealth. To mark this, Haizhu held a lion dance show at Haizhu Lake Park on the day.

Lu Haosheng, an inheritor of the lion dance, a Guangdong provincial intangible cultural heritage item, led a lion dance performance team in providing a unique lion dance performance that featured two lions that mesmerized attendees with their intricate movements.

The lion dance show was part of the 2022 Haizhu Lake Happy Chinese New Year Market organized by the Haizhu Wetland Office, which provided a variety of holiday activities to celebrate the Chinese New Year. It also prepared air gun games, pottery gifts, intangible cultural heritage item shows, as well as other kinds of cultural and creative New Year goods for visitors to enjoy and taste.
