The first council of the Pazhou algorithm industry alliance was held at Pazhou Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy Pilot Zone in Guangzhou's Haizhu district on Jan 18, with nearly 30 of the first batch of member units attending.

In this council, Pazhou Lab was selected as the chairman unit, while Baidu, iFlytek, National Supercomputing Center in Guangzhou, and Vipshop were selected as vice-chairman units.

Haizhu has paid close attention to the development of Pazhou Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy Pilot Zone in recent years. In terms of algorithms, Haizhu has cooperated with leading enterprises to build Pazhou Algorithm Industrial Park. In terms of computing power, it has accelerated the building of smart computing centers to provide key technical support for enterprise innovation and entrepreneurship. In terms of computing power, it has cultivated enterprises that can provide data services, as well as carry out data rights ownership, registration, and transaction pilots.

In 2021, the main business income of Pazhou Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy Pilot Zone was 366.85 billion yuan ($57.75 billion) and it was home to 32,000 enterprises, year-on-year increases of 23 percent and 13.5 percent respectively. Its artificial intelligence, big data, and internet industrial segments have also been booming.

Shi Wei, regional manager of Baidu's smart government affairs department, said, "Baidu proposed the 'All in AI' strategy in 2008 to develop the AI industry. After 13 years of effort, Baidu has developed an industry center integrating basic computing power, development tools, application models, and talent training. Pazhou has a good foundation in developing algorithm computer power. Baidu will contribute to the Pazhou algorithm industry alliance with its core technology, application experience, and execution capabilities."
