The opening ceremony of the Haizhu Basketball Association was held at Guangzhou No 5 Binjiang Middle School on Jan 15.

Lyu Jinqing, vice president of the Guangdong Basketball Association, was elected as the president of the Haizhu Basketball Association. The association also issued plaques to the vice and honorary presidents.

The 22nd primary and secondary school students' basketball championship in Haizhu was also held at Guangzhou No 5 Binjiang Middle School on that day, with Lyu being the special guest of the game.

Lyu said that the Haizhu Basketball Association will mobilize the majority of basketball enthusiasts in Haizhu district to actively participate in basketball activities, promote the national fitness campaign, cultivate people's physical exercise habits, as well as improve the quality of the national fitness campaign in an effort to improve the competitive level of basketball in Haizhu and cultivate more interest in basketball.

The settlement of the association at the school shows the integration of sports and education. It is expected to improve students'enthusiasm for basketball.
