Nearly 1,500 young volunteers for the upcoming 130th China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, took their posts on Oct 10.

The 130th Canton Fair will take place in Guangzhou's Haizhu district from Oct 15 to 19.

All the volunteers will help with pickup services, translation and guidance as well as other duties while 165 of the volunteers from Guangzhou Technician College will mainly carry out voluntary services for medicine and promotion. 

All volunteers are not allowed to leave Guangzhou for 14 days before officially starting work and daily health monitoring is mandatory.

Training on personal protection was provided by a physician from Guangzhou Center for Disease Control and Prevention for the volunteers. 

As a pioneer city of reform and opening-up as well as one of the earliest cities to launch voluntary services, Guangzhou now has a total number of 4.01 million registered volunteers.
