In recent years, Haizhu district in Guangzhou has been strengthening its efforts on the integrated development of culture, business and tourism.

Haizhu has upgraded its old factories and schools with modern business formats, which has helped to beautify the neighborhood and bring happiness to its citizens.

There used to be a private school called Red Star in Haizhu, which closed its doors in September, 2019. Now, the original site has been renovated and transformed into a community for aesthetic education.

Reopened to the public at the end of 2020, the Red Star School makes visitor feel like they are revisiting their youthful school days.

The school playground has been upgraded into a 24-hour public leisure space where new businesses, such as e-sports, cyber celebrity shops, as well as a nighttime cultural and creative house, have been launched. These new businesses are popular among young people and are helping to build the chain of a night-time economy in Haizhu.

The phase I construction of Red Star Community started in September 2020. Up till now, the renovation of some of the buildings has been completed, and businesses such as light catering, coffee and bakery shops, as well as pop-up toy shops, have settled in the area.
