The Municipal People's Congress of Guangzhou, capital city of South China's Guangdong province, inaugurated a liaison office for legislative affairs in Pazhou Pilot Area for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy on July 26.
It is the first such office it has launched in any of the local industrial development zones.
The office is expected to further enhance the legal and business environment for AI and digital economy industries in Haizhu district and Guangzhou as a whole, and create a better environment for major growth momentum in driving the high-quality development of Guangzhou.
It will respond to the needs of local firms in the innovative reform of systems and rules related to AI and digital economy industries, take their particular requirements into consideration in the formulation of professional standards and regulations, and incorporate them into future legislation.
The office will closely follow the recommendations made by local think tanks and expert advisory committees in the study of AI and the digital economy and engage in comparative studies of specific laws relating to the digital economy between different regions and countries to better grasp the development trends and direction of future legislation.
It will hold debates and other activities to deepen public understanding of the legislation on the digital economy, organize legal experts and business representatives to engage in exchange with the Legislative Affairs Commission in Guangzhou Municipal People's Congress on social proposals.
A Haizhu official said the district will make the office a demonstration platform for the integrated legislation between cities and their affiliated districts.
